My father

Just finished my father’s portrait. He passed away last year and I am giving this portrait to my mother, who will celebrate her 80th birthday this April (2010). I won’t be there with her, but the painting will.

 I had a couple of photos, and I think it turned out ok. It is definitely him

Nancy and Manoleto

It has been a while since I found time to update this blog.

Just before leaving for Germany I finished the portrait of Nancy Falley and her aging horse Manoleto. She is the founder and keeper of the American Indian Hore Registry.

It was supposed to be a surprise for her 70th birthday from her Tejas Spanish Horse Club. Vicky Ives of Karma Farms had contacted me for it. So here it is.

Back here I prepard for the annual art festival in Custer State Park,  held always the weekend before the buffalo roundup - lots of people walking through, nobody bought anywhere - times are tough and it shows.

Black Hills Mountain Lions Greeting Card

Been sitting for 3 days now at the computer trying to figure out my new photo & art programs and coming up with ideas for greeting cards of my paintings. Well here are a the first few.

Elk

The LE prints of the “Black Hills Mountain Lions” painting are expected to get done next week. I visit Sharon several times to get all the colors just right, not at al an easy task as every printer and ever paper turns out different fom the picture you see on your computer - meaning lots of test prints.

 Am quite busy printing brochures, greeting cards and letter size prints to take along to Lander next weekend, wher Jack and I participate in our friend Molly Rowlands Intensive Channelling weekend at the Rainbow’s End Center. It is always fascinating, very uplifiting and encouraging to hear, besides lots of fun to se all our old and new friends. You can find out more about Molly’s work at www.voiceofthegatekeepers.com.

She was the one asking me for St. Germain to paint him and through her I found out a lot of details about his life, habits and wardrobe, as well as the symbols in the painting etc.

Black Hills Mountain Lion and Kitten

welcome to my art blog. I am looking forward and hope to get a lot of input, advice, comments and find new artists and friends to talk about art in general, my Portraits in Pastel from photo(s) and Spiritual Visions in Pastel, and other artist’s work. I am very excited about this medium to share thoughts and ideas.

This is my latest painting - Mountain Lion and Kitten. The painting was done on rough slightly colored pastel paper, is about 18.5″ x 26.5″ in size and was completed on 4-28-09. I used 5 different photos (adult lion, kitten, tree, rock and pine tree branch) and merged them into one painting.

The idea for this portrait came about a couple of years ago when my neighbor and friend Sharron Scenscko, our local vet and founder of the Black Hills Mountian Lion Foundation asked me for a painting of Mountian Lions. She providedme with 2 photos she took herself, but then the idea how to merge them into one painting did not come to me until a couple of weeks ago during a spring snow storm, while bored with cabin fever. 

 I took it today to my friends Sharon and Daryl No Heart. They will produce certified Limited Edition Fine Art Prints of it for me in 16″ x 20″ and 12″ x 16 “or so. The prints will be for sale in my online shop in my web site www.paintingsbyisa.com. I will also create greeting cards with the image.
