Black Hills Mountain Lion and Kitten

Black Hills Mountain Lion and Kitten

Hello,

welcome to my art blog. I am looking forward and hope to get a lot of input, advice, comments and find new artists and friends to talk about art in general, my Portraits in Pastel from photo(s) and Spiritual Visions in Pastel, and other artist’s work. I am very excited about this medium to share thoughts and ideas.

This is my latest painting - Mountain Lion and Kitten. The painting was done on rough slightly colored pastel paper, is about 18.5″ x 26.5″ in size and was completed on 4-28-09. I used 5 different photos (adult lion, kitten, tree, rock and pine tree branch) and merged them into one painting.

The idea for this portrait came about a couple of years ago when my neighbor and friend Sharron Scenscko, our local vet and founder of the Black Hills Mountian Lion Foundation asked me for a painting of Mountian Lions. She providedme with 2 photos she took herself, but then the idea how to merge them into one painting did not come to me until a couple of weeks ago during a spring snow storm, while bored with cabin fever.

I took it today to my friends Sharon and Daryl No Heart. They will produce certified Limited Edition Fine Art Prints of it for me in 16″ x 20″ and 12″ x 16 “or so. The prints will be for sale in my online shop in my web site www.paintingsbyisa.com. I will also create greeting cards with the image.

Well, here it is, let me know what you think

  1. Just went through my online shop and reduced all the prices drastically plus added a bogo Special of 15% for any 2 or more LE prints purchased.
See some of my other art work in the galleries in http://www.paintingsbyisa.com

  2. Hi Isa! The painting is beautiful but you don’t need me to tell you that. It is very detailed for pastels and beautifully blended. I’m not an artist, not even an amateur but I still dream that I could do lovely life like 2-D works of art.
I’ve been to your online shop before. I must have followed up on someone else’s re-tweet at some point. I had read your about me and how you came to the States. So most of your work is deja-vous for me, lol.
You definitely have a fan in me.
